Fraternities and sororities at Harvard University have been shutting down and going co-ed because of a new policy that strips students belonging to single-gender groups of their ability to get faculty recommendations for prestigious scholarships and their ability to apply for campus leadership positions. But there are still two single-gender groups that Harvard students can join without getting punished.
Those are sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha, according to The Harvard Crimson. These organizations, while open respectively to women and men of any race, consist largely of black women and men.
Now, here’s the catch: it’s not that Harvard is discriminating in favor of blacks. The school might actually be discriminating against Asians, but that’s something we’ll get to in a moment. No, Harvard told me that the sanctions “are not applicable in this case because the groups are not comprised primarily of Harvard College students.”
You see, the two Greek organizations span multiple colleges. Alpha Kappa Alpha includes Harvard, Wellesley, and MIT students, whereas Alpha Phi Alpha is open to Harvard, Tufts, and MIT students. Still, that doesn’t seem very fair…it should be either everyone gets freedom of association without consequences or no one, right?
But this isn’t the only confusing action that cultural Marxism has caused Harvard to take. As I alluded to earlier, the school rescinded admission offers for ten students who, in a private Facebook group, shared pictures and messages that Harvard deemed offensive. The school’s also in hot water for allegedly discriminating against Asian American applicants on the basis of their personality.
That case will go to court in less than a couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
Harvard: ‘Jesus Broke Down Border Walls’ | Rob Shimshock
About a week after the truth about the Covington Catholic incident came out, Harvard chaplain Kerry Maloney delivered a sermon at Harvard’s Tuesday Morning Eucharist, in which she claimed that the Covington kids “surrounded an elderly Indigenous American man on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, chanting ‘Make America great again,’ menacing him, and taunting him in racially charged ways.” The chaplain called the event “a harrowing snapshot of white supremacy.”
Kerry continued, saying “I confess that I was one of the people who read Nick Sandmann’s smirk as proxy for the smug triumphalism over, defiant disdain for, and unapologetic disrespect of people of color and of all racially and sexually “non-conforming” people—even (even!) of the holy elders in those communities.”
Wow. And the best part of this Harvard chaplain’s homily is that this is her analysis A WEEK AFTER the humiliation of people who ran with the “evil white Trump kids” narrative. And yeah, she mentions the Black Hebrew Israelites, but most of the rant is “hey guys, this was my impression, and while it might not have been factually correct, it sure did strike a chord with what I feel.”
But the best — or, perhaps, the worst — part of Kerry’s sermon is this next bit. She says “Jesus and the early disciples had a great deal to say about families—usually, ‘Leave them!’ ‘Make new ones.’ ‘Follow me.’ Today’s gospel is no different, if a bit less stark. Here we find Jesus once again breaking down the great border walls of his own day, redefining and reconfiguring the all-determinant bonds of ancient family life. If Jesus’s apparent denial of his birth family in this text seems harsh, his embrace of the new order he declares is gloriously healing…and utterly revolutionary.”
Yes, that’s right — Jesus is a revolutionary who would have totally supported tearing down walls. Bible study isn’t sending their best, folks.
Harvard Prof: Trump Is A ‘National Emergency’
Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig argued that the national emergency isn’t the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump said he may call it that if he doesn’t get the wall. No, according to Lessig, the real national emergency is President Trump, reported Raw Story.
Now to his credit, Lawrence calls himself a constitutionalist and he did serve as a clerk for conservative Judge Richard Posner and the late Justice Antonin Scalia. He ran as a Democrat for president in 2016, but dropped out because of insufficient funding. Get this, he actually had some kind words to say about Trump back then, saying Trump might be able to bring about campaign finance reform. But Lawrence isn’t the only Harvard professor to make the news lately.
Professor Cornel West suggested Americans are “losing the sense of collective project,” reported Campus Reform.
I agree! We’re losing our sense of collectiveness as Americans! We’re letting illegals invade our country and call themselves “undocumented citizens,” we’re letting cultural Marxism invade our textbooks and call itself scholarly wisdom. We’re letting so-called “provocative public intellectuals” like you invade our Twitter feeds while the social media stasi purges provocateurs who have the wrong opinions. We need to come together as a collective to fight that, isn’t that what you mean, Cornel?
The professor then proceeded to state that there is an “imperial meltdown in the American empire.”
Exactly how many colonies do you expect our king to lose, Cornel? And yes, please preach to me about integrity and compassion. those are the qualities motivating your employer, Harvard, as it revokes admission offers for memes exchanged in Facebook DMs, institutes penalties for kids who dare join single-gender frats and sororities, and discriminates against Asian American applicants — allegedly, don’t sue me — based on personality traits.
Harvard Clamps Down On Free Association
This month, Delta Gamma became the first single-gender group at Harvard to close because of the school’s new rules prohibiting students in single-gender groups from holding office in recognized student groups, receiving Harvard’s endorsement for prestigious accolades like the Rhodes Scholarship, or even captaining varsity athletic teams at the school, reported The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Delta Gamma’s national president Wilma Johnson Wilbanks said:
“We respect the chapter’s decision and understand that the University’s sanctions resulted in an environment in which Delta Gamma could not thrive. We sincerely hope this changes in the future.”
So why penalize students who join single-gender groups in the first place? Well, Harvard spokeswoman Rachael Dane said:
“Harvard College seeks to build a community in which every student can thrive, and it does so on the foundation of a set of shared values including belonging, inclusion, and non-discrimination.”
OK so this is super-ironic coming from Harvard, one of the most discriminatory and exclusionary institutions probably on the face of the planet. And it’s that LACK of inclusion that makes it so distinguished. It wouldn’t exactly be Harvard anymore if they, let’s say, diversified their admission process by picking an equal number of people with 2.0 GPAs as 4.0 GPAs, now would it? Actually, that might be exactly what the school is doing if it is, in fact, discriminating against Asian Americans, which I guess we’ll find out in October.
Listen, frat and sorority members do get access to advantages like exclusive parties and an exclusive networking pool for jobs after college, but this holds for people from any group. You might be able to outlaw meetups featuring the annoying little Greek letters, Harvard, but hopefully, hopefully you and the media, Hollywood, and all of the other progressive institutions won’t be able to stop people with similar interests from coming together.
