The University of North Carolina spent a total of $393,000 paying police to defend the Silent Sam statue and repairing it, reported The Daily Caller News Foundation.
UNC history PhD student Maya Little apparently mixed red ink with her own blood to protest this Confederate statue.
And it wasn’t just the students, either. Seventeen anonymous University of North Carolina professors wrote the school an ultimatum, saying they would tear the statue down themselves if it wasn’t removed by a certain date.
“We do not fear arrest,” said the brave…anonymous professors. “Indeed we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the commitment that the Carolina faculty has to the wellbeing of its students and the principles that make this university great.”
Yeah, you know, principles like cultural Marxism, mob rule, might makes right. Now, the professors wrote that letter to UNC Chancellor Carol Folt, who finds herself in a bit of a pickle. You see, she would love to tear down the Silent Sam statue but believes a certain North Carolina law forbids her from doing so without legislative consent. UNC police said last August that they thought the Confederate statue’s fate would resemble that of the one in Durham, North Carolina.
And, of course, all felony charges were dropped against those Durham “activists.”
Faculty And TAs Go On GRADING STRIKE
University of North Carolina faculty and TAs who are unhappy with the school’s decision to construct a $5 million building for a Confederate statue torn down by protesters — instead of, I guess, removing it from campus entirely — are going on a “grading strike” and withholding grades from their students in protest, reported Campus Reform. But it seems like UNC provost Bob Blouin, at least, is taking a stand.
He wrote an email to the school’s deans saying “Our students are entitled to receive their grades in a timely manner. It is especially critical for the students preparing to graduate next Sunday, as well as the thousands of students whose scholarships, grants, loans, visa status, school transfers, job opportunities, and military commissions may be imperiled because lack of grades threaten[s] their eligibility….The proposed strike exposes the University and individuals who withhold grades to legal claims for the harm they cause to students.”
Bob threatened “serious consequences” for instructors who do withhold grades. And that’s very good. You have to remember that these people aren’t the compassionate little angels they’d have you believe. No. These are single-minded ideologues who are prepared to sacrifice the scholarships, the job opportunities, and the general peace and sanity of their fellow students and faculty to get what they want, in this case, the removal of a symbol representing North Carolina’s history. Now the provost also mentioned that some UNC instructors are asking their students to take a position on the strike.
He said “such actions have been interpreted as coercion and an exploitation of the teacher-student relationship and in fact are a violation of students’ First Amendment rights as well as federal law.”
Yeah I don’t think I’d be too comfortable going on the record about the statue to someone who has control over my grade and, ergo, my future livelihood.
Confederate Statue Torn Down And Now UNC Out Millions
Protesters at the University of North Carolina tore down a Confederate statue in August.
Present at the protest was UNC graduate student Maya Little, who previously smeared a mixture of what she claimed was paint and her own blood onto the statue and just got charged again this month with assault of an officer and inciting a riot, reported Campus Reform. It’s a cliche at this point, but this sure does drive home the whole “jobs not mobs” slogan. Except…for the poor employees tasked with cleaning up the mess made by these adult children.
From June 2017 to June 2018, before it was torn down, UNC spent over $390,000 protecting the Silent Sam statue from protesters. That money could have covered tuition for about 11 out-of-state or 43 in-state students. It was during this same period that 17 anonymous UNC professors wrote the school, threatening to rip down the Confederate statue themselves. They said:
“We do not fear arrest, indeed we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the commitment that the Carolina faculty has to the wellbeing of its students and the principles that make this university great.”
You know, principles like cultural Marxism. Now here’s the thing: UNC Chancellor Carol Folt would love to scrub her hands of this matter completely, even if by the kind of savage mob justice we just witnessed. But a 2015 North Carolina law forbids her from removing Silent Sam from campus. So to comply with the law, the school proposed creating a new building for the monument on the outer part of campus.
The cost of this building? Five…million…dollars. That’s in-state tuition for more than 500 students. You know, something tells me that some of these Silent Sam protesters are the same individuals complaining about tuition costs. I’m also betting that the irony escapes them completely.
Prof: Dr. Ford ‘Told The Truth,’ Nominates Her For Award
Every year, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill gives out a “Distinguished Alumna and Alumnus Award” to up to five alumni who have “made an outstanding contribution to humanity in any walk of life,” reported Campus Reform.
For the 2019 award, UNC English professor Jennifer Ho wrote a letter recommending Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who made the unsubstantiated claim that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her.
“What Dr. Blasey Ford did on September 27, 2018 was something that was extraordinary in how ordinary it was; she told the truth about a sexual assault she experienced when she was fifteen years old at the hands of Judge Brett Kavanaugh,” the professor wrote.
“She told the truth.” How does Jennifer Ho know this? Was she at that 1982 party? Someone better tell the FBI.
“By awarding Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as a distinguished alumna, UNC Chapel Hill sends a message to her, to our students, faculty, and staff, and to the larger community of the US and the world that we believe her – that UNC Chapel Hill believes survivors of sexual assault.”
Yes, but the problem is, you DON’T know what actually happened. I guess when it comes to Ho, feelings don’t care about her facts. And none of this should be too surprising when you look at Jennifer’s scholarly work, consisting of publications like this complaint about pink being feminine called “No F****** Pink Ribbons! Is It Time For The Bow To Go?,” as well as English courses with titles like “Mixed Race America” and “Critical Race Theory.”
Why spend tens of thousands of dollars on reading and discussing Shakespeare when you can instead mold yourself into a weapon for cultural Marxism, am I right?
