Cornell Studies In Trouble For Ranking Ladies’ Looks?

Published

on

Male students in Cornell University’s law school allegedly ranked female law students by their appearances and the administration was not pleased, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Cornell Law Dean Eduardo Penalver emailed students, saying: “upon receiving this troubling report, the Dean of Students asked Lawyering faculty as well as small section instructors to discuss these allegations with their students and to communicate to their sections in no uncertain terms that, if they are true, the behavior may well violate University Policy 6.4, which prohibits (among other things) the creation of a hostile educational environment on the basis of sex.”

This is a key instance of the puritanical impulses of the left eroding objective reality. FACT: Men AND women have key factors they seek out in potential mates: intelligence, humor, compassion, etc. FACT: beauty is, whether you like it or not, one of those factors.

Cornell’s starting a Title IX investigation over this and the results COULD be as drastic as Harvard’s decision last year to rescind admission offers for at least ten students who sent allegedly “offensive memes” in a private group.

The Ivy League is seeming less and less big league and more and more just like ordinary poison.

Cornell Prez Shoots Down Israel Divestment Demand

Published

Cornell’s SJP chapter sent the Ivy League school’s president a rather sharply-worded letter last month, calling both Israel and America “settler-colonial project[s] rooted in genocide” before saying “we call upon the Cornell administration to divest its endowment pool from companies complicit in the morally reprehensible human rights violations in Palestine, reported Legal Insurrection. As stakeholders of this university, our responsibility is to ensure that our actions align with our values, and our values do not include supporting the ethnic cleansing and military subjugation of the Palestinian people.”

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence provided for those claims and Cornell’s SJP includes absolutely zero mention of the very well-documented rock-throwing, Hamas rocket attacks, and other Palestinian attacks on Israel.

Not only does the student group ignore Palestinian terror, but you might be able to make the case that they support it. Cornell SJP uploaded a poster to Facebook promoting the PFLP, or Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The PFLP, which the U.S. lists as a terrorist organization, has conducted suicide bombings and rocket attacks on Israelis. The Cornell student group subsequently took that picture down, but let’s see what the school’s president, Martha Pollack, had to say about their divestment demand.

Martha rejected the demand and said “Cornell is not primarily an agent to direct social or political action, but rather a neutral forum for analysis, debate and the search for truth.” She also said “BDS unfairly singles out one country in the world for sanction when there are many countries around the world whose governments’ policies may be viewed as controversial” and that BDS “frequently conflates the policies of the Israeli government with the very right of Israel to exist as a nation.”

Martha suggested that partnerships the school forms abroad help people internationally and argued that the concept of academic boycott contradicted Cornell’s devotion to academic freedom.

The school’s student government rejected a divestment resolution in 2014, but it might be deliberated again. Still, remember that the students have no actual power over the decision to divest — that’s ultimately in the administrators’ court.

Cornell Student Strips To Combat Oppression

Published

When Cornell University student Letitia Chai practiced her “Acting in Public” presentation earlier in the week, she opted for a button-down shirt and short shorts, and she got really triggered when her professor allegedly told her the outfit would distract men in the class and asked the girl “what would your mom think?” reported The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“My mom is a Feminist, Gender, Sexuality Studies professor,” Letitia responded. “She has dedicated her life to the empowerment of people in all gender identities. So, I think my mother would be fine with my shorts.”

But Letitia sure showed this professor, proceeding to dress even more provocatively and also convincing 28 out of 44 spectators of her presentation to do the same.

But Letitia’s speech wasn’t some kind of slutwalk spiel against rape culture or anything. No, she was talking about treating refugees as resources rather than burdens, a lecture that, outside of the ivory tower, would probably be made at the UN and in a bit more formal attire. Make no mistake: she donned this little get-up not out of relevance to her thesis but entirely out of spite and to prove that she could.
