Lawfare Project, a group that represents Jewish and pro-Israeli individuals and groups in civil rights cases, demanded that CUNY give Kingsborough Community College administrator Mike Goldstein personal security and sanction those who were allegedly harassing the administrator, reported Campus Reform.
Lawfare Project identifies CUNY sociology professor Katia Perea as the Progressive Faculty Caucus’s leader and as someone who has tried to get Goldstein fired multiple times even though she’s never actually met the guy.
Katia allegedly spread fliers on campus, which have a few posts of Goldstein’s that are supposedly “racist, sexist,” and “anti-Muslim.” Lawfare Project says the posters have “forged” images but, for the heck of it, let’s assume that they ARE accurately represented. The poster calls Goldstein out for allegedly suggesting that, under the law, Confederate veterans are American veterans. So, this is something that’s very heavily disputed — people say they are, people say they aren’t, but the point is: making the case for someone’s status as a veteran isn’t, in and of itself, racist.
And then we have a presumably “anti-Muslim” post: Goldstein apparently asked “which Christian or Jew plowed their van into 20 people in London?” Well, which one did? And, if you can find one, can you prove that it was RELIGION that motivated the murders? Are there an equal number of killers who scream “Deus Vult” as “Allahu Akbar”?
Katia, or whomever printed this flier, also strangely includes a photo featuring Goldstein’s 13-year-old daughter before calling for him to be fired. Goldstein claims that dozens of the fliers have been stuffed under his door, he’s received multiple “hang-up phone calls,” and that people would bang on his door demanding to talk to him about his supposedly racist views. Earlier in the year, a photo of his father, who was president of Kingsborough, was defaced with a message reading “fuck Trump Goldstein” and “kill Zionist entity.”
That’s not really proper English, but does sound mildly threatening. SO, will CUNY take action? We’ll keep you abreast.
Prof Has No Sympathy For Vandalized Republican Property
City University of New York professor Angus Johnston commented on a vandal who threw bricks into the office of the Nebraska Republican Party, causing $1,200 in damage, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation. He said “police are looking to question a giant cartoon kitty cat” and then “A giant REPUBLICAN kitty cat, given the glass spray pattern.” Ok so sure, the hole left by the bricks did resemble a cat, but why a Republican cat, unless you’re suggesting this was a hoax? If so, I’ve got news for you, Angus: one side of the political spectrum is infamous for making hoaxes and it’s not the right.
The professor then went on to post what appeared to be a text message exchange he had with a friend. “Pretty amazing that a GOP window was smashed and Democrats didn’t start a GoFundMe in seconds,” the dude says to Angus. “Honestly the most hopeful sign I’ve seen in months,” the professor replies, captioning the tweet with #goodnewsthursday.
And I’m sure Angus would feel the exact same way if this happened to a Democrat office because, as we all know, these guys aren’t hypocrites or anything.
“One thing I’ve heard a lot in response to my Antifa tweets is that there’s a bright line between legitimate and illegitimate violence,” the professor says. “If your claim is that a position of strict non-violence is the only way to achieve social change, then I’m gonna need to see your work.” “And if you don’t see a messy, wrenching moral middle ground between “justified” and “unjustified” violence, then let’s keep talking.”
How about this, Angus? If you’re physically attacked, it is justified for you to physically defend yourself. And I emphasize the word “physically” on purpose: ideas that hurt your feelings do not equal physical violence. As for the professor’s desire to “keep talking,” well, that doesn’t really seem to apply to people who don’t share his views. I emailed him for comment. He didn’t email me back.
Law Student Shouts ‘F*** The Law!’ At Prof
South Texas College of Law Professor Josh Blackman tried to give a speech titled “The Importance of Free Speech on Campus” at CUNY and it’s ironic because he didn’t get to give the speech, which in and of itself perfectly captured the importance of free speech on campus, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Dozens of protesters greeted Blackman with signs bearing slogans like “my existence is greater than your opinion” and “conservative hate does not equal intellectual debate,” as well as the chant of “shame on you!” and even one law student’s ironic “f*** the law.”
You know, while they may come up short on arguments, logic, self-control…if there’s one thing progressives don’t lack, it’s raw emotion. So I was a little disappointed when they gave up trying to silence Blackman with a heckler’s veto just 10 minutes in and allowed him to answer questions, if not actually give his prepared speech.
As a certain president would say: LOW ENERGY. But really, these are our future attorneys, judges, maybe even Supreme Court Justices. I’d suggest grabbing some popcorn and silencing your phone, but you’re not just watching this horror film; you’re part of it.
